Anorexia is probably the most commonly known eating disorder amongst the public. However, it's the least prevalent of the many types of eating disorder/disordered eating that we know of (and perhaps many more we yet don't know about). Eating disorders and disordered eating come in many forms and include:
* Anorexia Nervosa
* Bulimia Nervosa
* Orthorexia
* Binge Eating Disorder
* Chew and Spit Disorder
* Phagophobia
* Pica
* ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
* Purging Disorder
* Night Eating Syndrome
* Rumination Disorder
* Emotional Eating
* Selective Eating Disorder
* Compulsive Overeating
* EDNOS/OSFED (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified/Other Specific Feeding or Eating Disorder)
* UFED (Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder)
Eating disorders can affect ANYONE of any age, culture, background, nationality, gender, social background, sexual orientation, education etc. Eating disorders do not discriminate. They creep upon anyone, of any age or background. Eating disorders don’t care whose life they destroy (Talking EDs).
We are experienced and skilled therapists and dietitians who have been working with eating disorders and disordered eating for a long time: our director has been involved with working with eating disorders for over 24 years, including directing a main eating disorders charity previously and campaigning at the Scottish Parliament to help secure better eating disorders treatment in Scotland. Some of our therapists and dietitians also have current or previous experience of working within specialist eating disorder departments within the NHS too.
So, we bring a wealth of skill, experience and knowledge to ensure the best care and support for you.
We can offer in-person appointments at our centre in Glasgow city centre or online appointments to anyone in the UK. Appointments can be weekly or fortnightly and go at you pace, in accordance with your goals, needs and preferences. There's no pressure, no hurry and no need to be a 'certain weight' or be doing X or Y a certain number of times a day to get support here. We see you and support you on an individual basis. You don't need to have a diagnosis either to get care and a listening ear here either: if food, eating or bood image are affecting your life in some way, then we are here for you.
